Composite doors are constructed using a handful of leading modern materials, and currently stand as the UK’s most desirable home entrance.

These materials, including a scratch-resistant outer skin, solid timber core and layer of foam insulation depending on the option you choose, all work together to reduce energy bills through the retention of heat, make your home as secure as can be, and look good in the process.

What most people don’t know is just how versatile composite doors are. You have full control over the finish, meaning you can flick through and choose between several stunning colours (including beautiful woodgrain options), decorative glass and the hardware of your choice. Whether you want to blend into your surroundings or stand out, it’s simple with composite doors.

If security is your priority, composite doors are undoubtedly the best pick. Inside, a high-security multi-point locking system and Ultion 3 Star TS007 lock come as standard, giving homeowners real peace of mind against entry attempts. The result is a perfect composite door that balances security, energy efficiency and aesthetic appeal.

At Leamore Windows, we supply and install two types of composite door. The industry-renowned Solidor option, with its firm timber core, and our own in-house Leamore design, made with an insulated foam core for lower bills. We will explore both in-depth below.

Why composite doors are known for being secure

Composite doors are recognised as the most secure entrance door solution available today. Their strength comes from a multi-layered construction that can combine a solid core, reinforced frame and durable outer skin, making forced entry significantly more difficult compared to traditional wooden doors.

A key feature is the multi-point locking system, which secures the door at several points along the frame rather than just one central lock. This creates a tighter seal, improves stability and greatly reduces the risk of forced entry or levering.

We also fit high-performance Ultion 3 Star locks as standard. These are designed with anti-snap technology and a hardened core that activates under attack, offering homeowners complete peace of mind and trusted protection day and night.

What are the other benefits of composite front doors?

Industry-leading thermal performance

Thermal efficiency refers to how well a door prevents heat loss from your home. A well-insulated composite front door helps keep warmth inside during winter and reduces draughts. This can contribute to lower energy bills and improved comfort throughout the year.

Durability

Composite doors are built for long-term performance. The GRP outer skin is highly weather resistant, meaning it will not swell, crack or fade easily. It also won’t scratch, meaning you don’t need to worry too much if you’re transporting furniture through the house.

What are the other benefits of composite front doors?

Customisable

A composite door gives you full design control. Choose from colours such as anthracite grey, black, white, duck egg blue, chartwell green or any RAL colour. Woodgrain effects like rosewood and golden oak are also available for a traditional look.

You can select from fully solid designs or glazed options with decorative or clear glass. Both Leamore and Solidor ranges offer extensive style choices, allowing you to match your home perfectly.

Increase your home’s value

Composite doors are widely considered the most desirable front door upgrade in the UK.

Their security, insulation and kerb appeal make them a smart investment, often increasing a property’s attractiveness to future buyers while improving everyday living comfort.

Always use Leamore for new windows and always been impressed with their customer service. Never any issues if there’s a problem to be sorted. We had Chris round today to make an adjustment to our bifold doors and there was no issues getting a slot and Chris did a great job. Will definitely use Leamore for any future requirements
