When it comes to choosing replacement windows for your home in the West Midlands, we understand that there are a lot of decisions to be made.
Firstly, you need to choose the material of the windows, and secondly, you need to choose a style of window to suit your home’s aesthetics (you can browse our gallery for inspiration).
For the example of this blog, you have chosen uPVC, so next, let’s compare two popular window styles – casement windows and vertical sliding windows.
One of the main differences between casement windows and vertical sliding windows is how air flows through the openings into your living space. Most casement windows are typically side hung operations that open in or out or top hung with double or triple glazing, meaning that air can flow through the entire opening. Whereas, vertical sliders slide up and down via a modern torsion balance system and can be single-hung where the bottom sash slides open and the top sash is fixed or double-hung where both sashes open and close.

Casement windows are crafted with the most important qualities in mind such as modern espag locks, making them a firm favourite amongst our Walsall based customers and suitable for all property types, for example, traditionally-style detached family homes or even bungalows!
Vertical sliding sash windows, on the other hand, are more suited towards heritage properties, conservation areas (of which there are approximately 137 in the West Midlands) and high rise buildings due to their aesthetically pleasing authentic features such as an inward tilting mechanism and traditional fasteners and locks.
With either window style, casement windows or vertical sliding windows, you can choose from a wide range of fantastic finishes to suit your West Midlands home.
If casement windows are for you then you will have 13 classic and contemporary colours to choose from including Anthracite Grey, Chartwell Green and many more – we are confident that we have a colour for you. What’s even better is that the dual colouring option is available on nine of these colours meaning that you can have a different colour from the interior to the exterior.
If vertical sliding windows are for you then you will have 150+ stunning RAL colours to choose from including the most popular Jet Black or Pure White, whatever your style, our team of experts can work with you to find a colour you’ll love.
Energy efficiency-related questions are ones we get asked a lot by our customers, so we’re sure that you would like to know the answer to.
Other than picture windows (fixed, unopenable windows) all our casement windows feature an advanced multi-chambered cross-section which makes them the most energy-efficient window style on today’s market. This means that our windows can be designed to achieve any rating on the Window Energy Ratings scale according to your needs and budget. They are also renowned for being stormproof due to their lipped frame that provides further protection against British weather.
That said, our traditionally styled sliding sash windows utilise modern energy-efficiency technology and each of our vertical sliding windows has been awarded an energy efficiency rating of A meaning that you could save up to £110 a year on your energy bills – something we know our customers love to hear.
Besides casement windows and vertical sliding windows, we also offer a variety of other window types including tilt & turn windows, Residence Collection windows and Eurocell flush sash windows. Custom-made to suit your requirement, you can guarantee that we can create something to suit your requirements. Get a quote or give our specialists a call today on 01922 473737 and let us help you.
