There are several conservatory styles available, each with their own features and benefits
Conservatories are one of the most popular types of extensions available for homeowners looking to enhance their property. They are able to provide extra living space and can often add value to a home. There is not just one style of conservatory, though. Conservatories are available in a broad selection of styles, such as those with different sizes or roof shapes.
Making the most of any space available, Edwardian conservatories are a popular choice for homeowners. Floor space is maximised with an Edwardian conservatory. This is helped by its tidy and symmetrical design. The symmetrical nature of the design is important and helps to really accentuate the available floor space.
This is especially true because of the square or rectangle shape that provides those features, without the need to compromise on aesthetics. Also, with its plain glass-based panels and the large windows used to complement the overall design, natural light is able to flood in.
If you want to gain panoramic views of your garden and beyond, a three facet Victorian conservatory could well be for you. They offer such views thanks to their multi-faceted bay end design. It is one of the more popular designs available, with the three main windows able to be angled so as to obtain maximum space. Victorian conservatories in general suit all types of properties and can often feature what is known as a ‘dwarf wall’ which is the wall that wraps around the bottom of the structure.
Similarly to the Edwardian conservatory, the gable-end designs are square or rectangular rooms with the ability to maximise the amount of space and light available. The front of the roof stays in an upright position, while the other part of the roof is sloped.
Contemporary gable-end conservatories are a variant of the traditional Georgian style designs. The height of the gable-ended conservatory helps to create a genuine feeling of space in the room, along with the bursts of natural light and overall floor space afforded.
Another popular conservatory design throughout the UK, lean-to conservatories can be ideal for smaller homes that require a bit of extra space. Although they work well with smaller designs, their simple rectangular shape allows them to be suited to larger builds as well. Also known as a ‘Mediterranean’ conservatory, a lean-to provides a sleek aesthetic with its subtle lines and an influx of natural light.
These are available in both Edwardian and Victorian styles and, of course, share the shape of the letter P. The design creates a combination of lean-to conservatory in the elongated part and then the Edwardian or Victorian at the rounded part.
P-shaped conservatories are one of the larger designs available, so much so that you can often use it as two separate living areas or to link two rooms together. They are perfect for those who want a significantly bigger living space.
